Pontyclun Panthers u13 34 Bridgend Blue Bulls u13 24
This semi-final play-off was a hard fought contest between two very good sides. The Panthers started as favourites but it was the young Bulls who started well, exerting plenty of pressure. With several of the Bulls either carrying knocks or picking them up during the game the defence was resolute against a much bigger side. There were fine performances on both sides and some scintillating rugby was played. Tries for the Bulls were scored by Jim Needs(2), Jon Lodwig(2) and Lewis Simpson. Two of the tries were converted.
Coach Jon Ambani was immensely proud of his young team and the future looks bright for the Blue Bulls. Well done boys
July 18th - Newport Titans 30 Blue Bulls Under 13s 12
Newport had 8 players so an 8 a side game took place. The Bulls started well but injuries to Lloyd Webb and Jon Lodwig put us on the back foot. The Titans were over physical especially at the tackle area and when the Bulls tried to play the ball. Overall there were some good performances especially from Alex King and Reuben Tooze but our inexperience cost us. Next up are the Swansea Dragons on Sunday 26 July away
May 30th - Torfaen Tigers Under 13s 30 Blue Bulls 28
In blistering temperatures the young Blue Bulls played some exciting rugby but were edged out by a bigger side. Coach Dean Fitzgerald was happy with the attacking element of play but defence was a concern. All in all, a good performance. July 18th - Newport Titans 30 Blue Bulls Under 15s 16
A new look Bulls side took on the Titans at Bettws Rfc. Early on the powerful running of the Bulls forwards caused problems for the Titans. Tries by Ieuan Griffiths, Owain Evans and Ethan Dearden unfortunately were not enough in this hard fought game. The physicality threatened to spill over on many occasions but the referee kept a tight control on proceedings. July 11th - Blue Bulls Under 15s 0 Steelers 38
A makeshift side took on a very clinical Steelers side who had the luxury of having Welsh internationals on the bench. The boys acquitted themselves well, tackling like men possessed. Sadly some basic errors cost us dear combined with the experience the Steelers possess. Lots to work on but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
June 14th - Blackwood Bulldogs 38 Blue Bulls Under 15s 14
Fresh from their last victory the bulls travelled to blackwood. It was an intense and physical game with James Bullock and Jordan Hawkins leaving the field injured. The bulls started well with a try from Ieuan Griffiths, converted by Jordan Hawkins.
A good recovery from the Bulldogs, coupled with some missed tackles meant Bridgend were chasing the game.
Ieuan Griffiths scored another try and the returning Ben Smith made an impact by scoring his first try of the season.
The Bulls fought back well, having three tries disallowed, but ultimately the missed tackles and inability to spread the ball cost them dear. However they showed plenty of determination and character and there is plenty to build on.
May 30th - Torfaen Tigers Under 15s 30 Blue Bulls 38
With Ben Harris from the under 13s playing the Bulls displayed some excellent attacking play but again defence was a concern. It was a hot day and the crowd certainly got plenty of entertainment from this new look side. An excellent start to the season.
